In Aurensis we want to show our solidarity with our colleagues and the rest of Italian citizens affected by the earthquake in the region of Abruzzo, Italy, on the 5th of April.
Finmeccanica, the largest shareholder of the Group Telespazio, which Aurensis is part of, has 850 employees living in the region of Abruzzo, about 700 of them specifically in the area of L’Aquila (the most affected by the earthquake). The Group has five sites in the province of L’Aquila: Elsacom, SELEX Galileo, Telespazio, Thales, and SELEX Communications
Alenia Space. The last two have no activity since the 6th of April because of the damage caused by the earthquake. Investigations are being carried out to assess the damage in plants and machinery and to assess the extent of the damage and the time required to repair it.
The Group has also launched the initiative “Finmeccanica for Abruzzo” among its employees in Italy and abroad. The initiative aims to collect internal and external donations for the earthquake victims. The funds collected will be aimed at supporting the needs of employees of the Group and specific needs of the region. The fund Committee will regularly report on activities undertaken with the funds to the unions, the company staff and donors.
