Telespazio Ibérica, as part of the consortium led by e-Geos (Telespazio / Italian Space Agency), will participate in the provision of the Emergency Management Service within the Copernicus Program.

This service, unique worldwide, aims to generate maps, based on satellite data, within a few hours after the event that caused the emergency. In this way the authorities that must face the emergency can have accurate and updated information that allows them to manage the incidents caused by natural disasters (earthquakes, floods, fires and landslides) or humanitarian crises around the world.

Copernicus Emergency Management Service (EMS) – Rapid Mapping contract has been signed with JRC, the Joint Research Center of the European Commission. This activity constitutes the operational service of the European Copernicus Programme for Earth Observation and is unique in the world in the domain of emergency management.

The consortium is also made up of GAF (Germany), ITHACA (Italy), SIRS, the University of Strasbourg (France) and GMV Skysoft (Portugal).
