Telespazio Ibérica has inherited Aurensis’s history from which we are consolidating, after our recent change of business name, our professional and technical expertise, knowledge, resources, and clients to face the challenge of building a global player in the spatial business applied to earth observations and satellite communications, as a member of Telespazio’s world.
Aurensis was created in 2003, with the merger of two companies aurensa and SYSIGSA, located in Madrid and Barcelona respectively, with strong business synergies and shared partners
Aurensa was a natural resources engineering company, founded in 1986, which has being characterized for its innovative solutions applied to environmental disasters such as the overflow that took place in Aznalcóllar dam; the Prestige’s oil spill in front of Galicia’s shores or environmental impact evaluation of Spanish high-speed-train AVE construction.
SYSIGSA was created in 1989 as a joint venture between the ICC – (Cartographic Institute of Catalonia) and the computer company Nixdorf. A major contribution to the new company was the outstanding and worldwide recognized cartographic, data conversion, topo-geodesy expertise provided by ICC, in conjunction with excellent and proven expertise Nixdorf in IT field projects. The strong growth of the company during its early years, conclude in the privatization process that led to the substitution of public shareholders (ICC) by the investment group 3i Europe
In 2008, Telespazio S.p.A fully acquired Aurensis, becoming in this way part of Telespazio Group, a multinational leader in Europe, dedicated to geo-spatial activities and satellite telecommunications. this was a great step forward for Aurensis, a new milestone in its development, expanding its potential customer base and increasing its portfolio of products and services, while deploying its influence in the international market, contributing with their own specific skills to the group.
From June 2012, as said, Aurensis changed its name to Telespazio Ibérica within Telespazio Group’s globalization process as a transnational organization consolidating its transformation as a national chapter in an international strategy to become a global player in the Earth Observation and Satellite Telecommunications.
Currently, Telespazio Ibérica is a leading edge technology provider in the Earth Observation field where new technologies that support the development of vertical solutions and service platforms oriented to maritime surveillance, environment, agriculture, thematic mapping, subsidence, land management and administration, supported by a highly qualified professional team.
