Telespazio and e-GEOS are participating in Space2Connect 2023

06 June 2023

Three days focused on space and on satellite communications in particular. This will be the main theme of the Space2Connect conference, promoted by the European Space Agency, with the support o the Italian Space Agency (ASI) and held in Matera from 7th to 9th June, in which Telespazio and e-GEOS will be participating.

On Thursday, 8 June at 9:00 am, Alessandro Caranci, Senior Vice President Satellite Communications, will speak during the “Novel Space Capabilities for Emerging Connectivity Needs” panel discussion.

The new space capacities needed to satisfy the increasing connectivity needs will be discussed in this session. In this context, Telespazio stands out for its ability to integrate land-based and satellite connection, offering users flexible and reliable solutions anywhere in the world. The company is also highly advanced in sectors that will become increasingly important in the years to come, such as quantum communication.

On the same day, Vincenza Luceri, Head of Matera Space Centre, will join at 2:30 pm the “Space For a Green Transition And Resilience To Climate Impact” round table.

This session will highlight the role of space technologies in sustaining a green transition to a sustainable future, as well as the crucial role of satellites in the management of catastrophes and response to emergencies, including natural disasters. In this field, e-GEOS play a major role as it manages the Emergency Management Service - Rapid Mapping for the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. Since it became operational in 2012, the service has been activated for over 650 events, and has provided more than 5,000 satellite maps of 46 countries in Europe and in the world.

On 9th June at 9:00 am, Giovanna Scardapane, the project manager of Telespazio’s Geo-information RPAS solutions, will speak in the “Security challenges and emerging satellite communications solutions for Safety and Security” panel discussion.

During the three days of the conference, attendees will have the opportunity to visit the Basilicata Space hub, which includes the ASI Centre for Space Geodesy and the e-GEOS Space Centre, which is dedicated to Earth observation services.
